NOTES

Anna Elizabeth VanStavoren was the daughter of Cornelius Jr. and Mary Refsneider and she was born in Philadelphia on March 6, 1817. Anna was married to James Stewart KELLEY on October 15, 1840 by Rev. Mr. Morton in East Union Township (near Wooster), Wayne County, Ohio. The wedding party rode on horseback to their future home in Massillon and went to board with Mrs. Wellman in the house she owned for ten years when she died.

They resided in Massillon, Ohio, where they became prominent in business, church and social circles and were highly respected everywhere. Their home in Massillon was an attractive one on extensive grounds and was doubly valued from the fact that this home which was afterwards purchased and held in possession for many years was their first home.
