He was the son of George Holloway (24) and Ruth Woods. James Holloway (35), son of George Holloway (24) born Nov, 30, 1749; died before 1811; m. Mary ____ . She was living in 1811.

His children came into Friends Meeting as follows viz.:
James Holloway was received into membership by Concord Mo. Mtg. 3, 24, 1807;
Ann Holloway by Plainfield Mo. Mtg. 9, 28, 1811;
Ruth Billingsley by Plainfield Mo. Mtg. 4, --, 1814; and a
Daniel (who we think was another son) was received into membership by Flushing Mo.
Mtg., 8, 25, 1820.
Sarah Holloway, wife of Simpson Bethel, never came into the society.

On 2, 27, 1811, James Holloway and Phebe Gregg were married at a meeting hold at Plainfield and we think lived in Union township about a mile and a half off the National road until about 1825 when they moved with their children to Flushing, it appearing on the Belmont records that he and Thomas Strahl exchanged lands. The brick house, which it is related he built about this time, still stands and is located about l ½ miles southeast of Flushing. James and Phebe were evidently prominent members of the society as their names frequently appear in the minutes as being "used by the meeting." More often, however, do we find the name of Phebe. It is related of her that it was difficult to quote a verse from the Bible that she could not tell from what chapter it was taken.

Samuel G. Holloway (98), son of James Holloway (40), born Sept. 23, 1813; died July 23, 1852; m. Mary Hoge - May 2, 1838. She was the daughter of William and Sarah (Wright) Hoge. She was born Sept. 9, 1811; died Aug. 22, 1877.
